Biography:
Nimsesku is the Selig family pet. He began life as a mild-mannered hamster, the cuddly friend of the young Piper and Lucius. He got long in the tooth and died late one evening in 1988.
Enter: Emerson, fresh off his studies in esoteric science. Emerson made Nimsesku the subject of his first experiment in recalling harmonic energy into a deceased body. We know that Emerson’s goal was to find a way for he and Jean to live forever, a symptom of his fear of death.
On the night of the experiment Emerson, thinking his children were asleep, readied a device that used sonic energy to find and trap a departed spirit. Emerson succeeded in reanimating the hamster but his son Lucius wandered into the laboratory at a crucial moment and was forever changed.
Today Nimsesku seems to be incapable of dying or, more accurately, he returns to life in each instance of his death. His resurrections involve rigor mortis-like symptoms followed by convulsions and a return to normal body function. These cycles are sometimes difficult to witness, but the effect on Nimsesku is uncertain. He seems fat and happy.
Still, Nimsesku’s visceral resurrections left their mark on anyone who witnessed one. A living reminder of his hubris, Nimsesku caused Emerson to give up esoteric science for good. Lex alone found the hamster fascinating. He used Nimsesku as a lab animal in his experiments, to his sister Morgan’s horror.
Nimsesku is about 40 years old; 37 years older than the average lifespan of a domesticated hamster.
Our agents saw a unique opportunity in Nimsesku. He is an innocent creature, close to the family and he could not die. While the Seligs were away one afternoon our agents outfitted Nimsesku with a tiny camera and a transmitter. He was our loyal spy up until the moment he disappeared in the chaos on March 17th.
Come home, Nimsesku. We miss you. You’re also carrying proprietary equipment and we want it back.
NOTE: Retrieving Nimsesku is one of our top priorities. He appears to have escaped from his cage when the family attempted to retrieve Lex’s spirit. Nimsesku likely has valuable footage on his camera that could explain where we went wrong.
