At the height of his power Lucius was able to project his consciousness into the Multiverse and add new worlds to it. His method for this travel was a focused sonic meditation he learned from his mother Jean. It allowed him to send his mind into a "blank" universe. These universes were like clean sheets of paper and Lucius eventually learned how to write on them.
Lucius was able to build new worlds within these spaces and he could also take other people with him. He used this chaotic gift to start a church: The Power of Positive Mechanics.
Lucius became a textbook example of what happens when godhood is wasted on a human.
Positive Mechanics began as a self-help group but as Lucius grew in power and ability it mutated into an influential and wealthy cult. Lucius built Portals Bermuda, an extra-dimensional health spa and resort for the spiritually aware. It was accessible only to the wealthiest of his followers, who traveled there through interdimensional wormholes originating from the Positive Mechanics headquarters in Santa Fe.
Portals Bermuda was a cosmic abomination. Amateur work. Humans should not create their own universes. They don't even know about basic worldbuilding concepts like sub-polar magnetic decay or load-bearing Jungian archetypes. Portals was cobbled together from five different realities and its rickety structure put significant strain on the Multiverse. It would have collapsed time and space if we had not put a stop to it.
Good riddance.
Oh yeah? How'd that work out for you, Lucius?

Lucius Selig: His Family
Last modified by Charter Agent SIE
Emerson Selig (Father): Emerson is responsible for the experiment that caused Lucius’ powers. Emerson was trying to resurrect the family hamster, Nimsesku, when Lucius entered the room and was bathed in the sonic field surrounding his pet. To this day, Emerson refuses to acknowledge his role in his son’s condition. Lucius resents his father and their relationship never recovered.
Jean Selig (Mother) (Deceased): Lucius was closest to Jean, who was his primary caregiver during his “blackout” phase. Jean knew or suspected that Emerson was responsible, but she never confronted him about it.
Murok-Inoo (Spiritual Guide): Lucius meditates and communes with Murok-Inoo, a sentient crystal who lives in outer space. Lucius named one of the locations in Portals Bermuda after his teacher. We do not know whether such an entity exists anywhere other than in Lucius' mind.
Christian Garcia (Ex-Boyfriend): Christian started as Lucius’ personal assistant, but their relationship grew until they started dating. Christian betrayed Master Lucius to us. Garcia may be Selig’s only intimate relationship, but that is unclear. Further research is unnecessary. They are no longer speaking.
Piper Pastore (Sister): Lucius grew apart from his twin sister shortly after his accident. She had chaotic abilities of her own as a child, but these disappeared shortly after Lucius discovered his. What’s more, Lucius' condition meant that he got most of the attention from Emerson and Jean. That resentment continued between the twins well into their adult lives. Now that Lucius is without a job and living off of the goodwill of his family, Piper barely tolerates her brother. She can be a useful tool if we have to act against Lucius in the future.
Nicolae Pastore (Brother-in-law): Lucius and Nicolae have a polite yet emotionally distant relationship typical of many adult males. Nicolae and Lucius stay out of each other’s way for the most part, provided that tensions between Nicolae and Piper remain at equilibrium. Nicolae barely trusts Lucius and can be expected to take the side of Piper should any problems arise.
Morgan Selig (Niece): An unknown quantity. Morgan, an empath, senses that something is wrong with her uncle, but their relationship never developed. It’s possible that the intuitive Morgan knows that Lucius has a habit of using people for his own selfish needs.
Lex Selig (Nephew): Lex shares many qualities with his uncle, the most important of which is his ambition. As such, Lucius sees his own childhood in the experiences of his nephew and has bonded with him. The Lex/Lucius relationship could be equally advantageous or disruptive for the Charter and it should be monitored closely.

Graph: Lucius Selig’s strain on Space/Time
Last modified by Charter Agent N7N
Lucius’ life is characterized by the dramatic spikes in stress he places on the Multiverse. The first spike occurred in 1988 when Lucius walked in on the Nimsesku experiment. This stress continued to climb as Lucius became more powerful and started building Portals Bermuda. The alarming upward trend almost certainly would have collapsed the structure of time and space had we not stopped him. Today, the stress he places on the system is back to normal levels. Mundane.
Veteran agents like to show this graph to rookies to illustrate the danger creative chaos poses to the Multiverse. Lucius is our case study in why all of the Anomaly's creatures need the Charter's guiding hand.
In his heyday Lucius loved to flaunt his disrespect for Order. He preferred to be an order unto himself, creating an entire belief system that placed his worldview at the very center. These flimsy things are no match for the Pyramid. The Charter is Order and we make no room for any other administrators.
Biography: Lucius Selig
Last modified by Charter Agent TCD
As a boy Lucius was completely oblivious to the chaotic pursuits of his parents. At the age of 11 he wandered into his father’s laboratory while Emerson was trying to resurrect Nimsesku, the family hamster. Lucius grabbed the pet at a crucial moment in the experiment and he was bathed in dangerous chaotic energy. The experiment brought the hamster “back from the dead” but it also caused Lucius' consciousness to separate from his body and travel to other dimensions.
This ability was not a gift at first. Lucius could not control where and when he traveled. Without warning he would slip into a trance, his consciousness gone from this physical plane. Lucius did not understand what was happening to him or why he could no longer live a normal life. His father, wracked with guilt, could never bring himself to explain the experiment to his son. He pretended the experiment never happened and told Lucius his condition was the result of “blackouts.”
[caption id="attachment_392" align="alignnone" width="650"] These two share a cramped home and yet they barely talk.[/caption]
When neurological therapy failed to cure Lucius his parents pulled him from school. Lucius was a shut-in until early adulthood. It was then that he had his so-called awakening and learned to control his powers.
In his bestselling book The Power of Positive Mechanics, Lucius claims that he traveled to a planet of pure crystal: Murok-Inoo. There, he met a sentient crystal who became his spirit guide. The crystal taught Lucius how to control his powers and how to create new worlds. Lucius made this experience the centerpiece of his religion. He preached a message of mystical self-reliance, arguing that everyone could be as powerful as he was if they focused their positive energies and rejected all “negative thought patterns.”
Lucius used his powers for personal gain, experiencing enormous success characteristic of many charlatans. He impressed his followers by taking them on spiritual pilgrimages to other dimensions, but he never told them the true source of his power. He swindled fortunes from his clients, who all believed that Master Lucius got to where he was through positive thinking and not because he was a cosmic freak.
The Charter had to act when Lucius opened Portals Bermuda, an interdimensional health spa. This ad-hoc resort put significant strain on space/time. Lucius’ universe nearly rebooted on the day it opened.
Life in Portals Bermuda went downhill quickly. The woo resort was poorly constructed and it was prone to reality bending paradoxes, disasters the tinpot Messiah never could have foreseen. Portals became a dystopia. Lucius' wealthiest followers sipped margaritas on alien beaches and did yoga in the middle of prehistoric forests while the poorest worked as unpaid interns. Lucius knew the Charter was coming for him and he became paranoid, never staying in one dimension for long.
[caption id="attachment_391" align="alignnone" width="650"] Shutting this guy down was the highlight of my career.[/caption]
We caught up to Lucius through his personal assistant and boyfriend, Christian Garcia. Garcia was terrified by what his cult-leader lover was turning into and he promised to put Charter agents in contact with Lucius if we would agree to not hurt him.
We didn’t hurt him.
Okay maybe just a little.
Charter agents targeted Lucius with a powerful psychic attack. This shut down the part of Lucius’ mind that allowed him to travel between worlds. Today if Lucius attempts to project himself he experiences extreme pain until he stops. Portals was closed. Christian Garcia was left in charge of Positive Mechanics and a defeated Lucius was sent back to his childhood home of Mendocino. He's been crashing on Emerson's living room couch. Well done, agents. Commendations all around.
