Lex Pastore: His Family

Emerson Selig (Grandfather): Lex shares his grandfather’s aptitude for science and engineering. His grandfather refuses to talk about his esoteric research with anyone, but Lex suspects there is a connection between the strange device in Emerson’s office and his pet hamster Nimsesku. Emerson keeps his notes locked away in a safe. He doesn’t know that someone else has the combination.

Jean Selig (Grandmother)(Deceased): Jean’s death was an important moment for the twins. Lex has never been alone. The loss of his grandmother forced him to contemplate a future where he would be forever separated from his twin sister Morgan. Time would find a way to drive them apart. Lex seeks to prevent that with his research.

Piper Pastore (Mother): Piper is in flux. The all-sight that she had as a child is starting to come back. She can see multiple versions of reality stacked on top of each other. Alternate tellings of similar events play out before her eyes. How many of those world variations have Lex in them? It’s too much information. It’s overwhelming. Morgan’s notes about Lex’s strange experiments go unread.

Nicolae Pastore (Father): Nicolae tells the twins everything about his musical experiments. Emerson won’t say it anymore, but Nicolae will: “Sound is the key to the Multiverse.” Everything makes music. Even your eyes rolling in their sockets make a sound. Lex and Morgan haven’t seen much of their father lately, but they brag about him at school. They tell their friends that Nicolae is building an instrument made out of light.

Lucius Selig (Uncle): Lex and his uncle have been growing closer since Lucius moved back home. Lucius senses that he and Lex share an affinity for creative chaos. He may be planning to use Lex for his own gain. Lucius is clever and he knows how to avoid detection by the Charter. This relationship is very dangerous.

Morgan Pastore (Twin Sister)*:  Lex is afraid of losing his twin sister. Time or the entropy of once-close relationships could drive them apart. He thinks Nimsesku, an ancient hamster who was owned by Piper and Lucius when they were children, holds the key to preserving his bond with Morgan.

*(The Selig family tree is teeming with twins. Strange synchronicities like this one sometimes appear before a cataclysm. It’s like chaos is taunting us.)
