Jean Selig

Who Was Jean Selig?

Who Was Jean Selig?

This leaves the question: if training the family was Jean Selig's goal, where did she come from? Was she an avatar of the Creative Force? Did the It send her to lead a rebellion against us? Or was she a Charter agent turned traitor? My theory is that Jean was too disciplined, too methodical to be designed by the Creative Force. I’m looking out of my window at the Creative Force right now. It’s trapped in our courtyard. It appears to be as mindless now as it did during the creation of the Multiverse. It just creates. That’s all. Jean, on the other hand, was disciplined. Shrewd. She hid her motives from us across three generations. That would suggest that she comes from the Charter. But we are accounted for. Not one of us is missing. A puzzle.  ACCESS NARRATIVE ›

Solving the problem of Jean’s origin is key to solving the Selig/Pastore problem. We need to find out where she comes from and what her goals were. I suggest that we audit everyone in the Charter. I will lead an investigation of this whole facility in an attempt to find the traitor. The traitor cannot know we are looking for him. We cannot cause a panic. After the audit is over, if we can say for certain that Jean did not come from our organization, we can shift our focus. The Creative Force is our next suspect. Personally, I’d prefer that Jean came from within the Charter. The Creative Force, for now, is a known quantity to us. We know how to control it. If it’s learning how to operate outside of its cage… I’d prefer not to think about that for now. Jean Selig: Her Family

Jean Selig: Her Family

Emerson Selig (Husband): Emerson was working as a researcher at the Bell telephone company when he met Jean. He was building a device, similar to our machines, that could locate other Bloodline members like himself. He found Jean almost on cue. Jean turned Emerson’s attention toward esoteric science. Emerson found a way to “resurrect” simple life forms, but he retired when his experiments injured his son. Piper Pastore (Daughter): Piper once had Bloodline abilities of her own, but they disappeared when her twin brother had his accident. Piper had the gift of true sight, an ability to see different realities, all the iterations of the Multiverse. Jean encouraged Piper to be an artist, giving her a creative outlet even after Piper’s own powers disappeared. Nicolae Pastore (Son-in-Law): Jean couldn’t have been more pleased with her daughter’s choice of a husband, seeing her own marriage reflected in that of her daughter’s. Jean welcomed Nicolae into the family, as though she knew that her son-in-law and her husband would be scientific colleagues. Lucius Selig (Son): When he was a boy Lucius wandered in on Emerson’s experiments and was changed by them. Lucius possessed no Bloodline abilities until that moment, but then he started to slip from one dimension to another. For his safety Lucius’ parents pulled him from school and kept him at home, as though he had a terminal medical condition. Jean taught Lucius how to control his trances and visit places he wished to see. Lucius is grateful to her, but we have to wonder: did Jean engineer his accident? Lex and Morgan (Grandchildren): She cannot corrupt her grandchildren anymore, but it wasn’t for lack of trying. Lex, who is only ten years old, is pursuing his research with the same determination as his grandfather. Jean caused this. Morgan was being trained for some other purpose, but we can only guess what that was.  ACCESS NARRATIVE ›

Jean Selig: A Muse of Discord

Jean Selig: A Muse of Discord

Bloodline Abilities: Muse. Jean inspires depths of Bloodline chaos. Biography: We know very little about Jean Selig. If she knew the extent of her powers, she hid them well from us. It’s possible that she knew about the Charter and took care to avoid us. We know this: she could never be tracked by our surveillance. We have no records of her until she married Emerson Selig. In fact, had we not been following Emerson, we never would have discovered her. The lack of information about Jean is one of the most shameful failures of this office. Let me be clear: this was the fault of my predecessor, Charter Administrator 94. I am, of course, blameless. The prevailing theory about Jean is that she is a muse. That’s our best guess. Jean inspired the deviants around her. Her presence amplified and focused the powers of her husband, her children, and her grandchildren. Because of her the family accomplished things they wouldn’t be able to otherwise. The family as a whole has certainly floundered since her death. [caption id="attachment_365" align="alignnone" width="650"] A younger Jean and Piper up to no good. Footage captured by Nimsesku.[/caption] Evidence: Based on philosophical talks with his wife, Emerson Selig started to study esoteric science. His experiments with resurrecting the pet hamster nearly snapped Space/Time in half. Jean inspired this chaos. That chaos created more chaos. Emerson’s experiments affected their son, Lucius. Lucius would still be confined to his bed today, had Jean not taught him how to control his astral projection. Lucius learned how to travel between dimensions and build new worlds within those dimensions. He abused this gift, creating the Power of Positive Mechanics cult. We only recently put a stop to “Master” Lucius’ atrocious behavior. Not even Jean’s grandchildren, Lex and Morgan, were safe from her meddling. She inspired Lex to take up his grandfather’s studies in esoteric science. Jean played “games” with Morgan that were designed to increase Morgan’s abilities as an empath. Jean has become a ghost story around this office. Even though she’s dead, some of our agents suspect that she’s not entirely gone. There is a radio signal surrounding the Selig home. This signal shifts up and down the Bloodline frequency, in the same way Jean’s did. We cannot find an origin or a destination for this signal. It covers the Selig home like a fog. Conclusion: Jean trained this family. She molded them (possibly without their knowledge) into a cell designed to create chaos. At least two of her brood went on to nearly break the universe. There is evidence that she may have prompted her grandchildren to follow in the family business. It’s extremely lucky for the Charter that she is no longer with us, at least not in a physical form.  ACCESS NARRATIVE ›

Essential Information: Jean Selig (Deceased)

Alias(es): None Age: 63* (approximation based on tissue samples) Birthdate: Unknown Died: Dec. 21, 2012 Bloodline Index Number: Jean cannot be tagged with an index number. BINs track people by identifying the target’s unique energy signature. Jean cycled up and down through all known Bloodline frequencies. We first noticed this when Jean’s energy reading was identical to an Anomalous entity living in the Crab Nebula. Since we’re reliably certain Jean isn’t a lightyears-long sentient cloud of gas, we can only conclude that Jean was cloaked. Tracking her was extremely difficult.  ACCESS NARRATIVE ›
